1. Controller

The controller responsible for processing personal data within the meaning of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) is:

2. Scope and Principles

This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • our website www.family-relocate.com,

  • the protected member and course area (online courses, downloads, customer account),

  • contact with us by e-mail, phone, and contact form,

  • coaching, consulting, training, and collaboration with companies and institutions.

We process personal data in accordance with the principles of good faith, lawfulness, proportionality, purpose limitation, accuracy, and data security (Art. 6 and 8 FADP). We only process data that we actually need for the respective purpose.

Important: Merely using our website does not constitute consent. Where consent is required (e.g., newsletter, marketing cookies, particularly sensitive personal data), we obtain it explicitly, and you may withdraw it at any time.

3. What Data We Process

3.1 Visiting the Website (Server Logs)

When you access the website, our hosting provider automatically records technical data: IP address, date and time of access, pages visited, amount of data transferred, browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, and internet service provider.

Purpose: technical operation, stability, security, error analysis, prevention of misuse. Retention period: 30 days (www.wix.com), after which the data is deleted or anonymized.

 

3.2 Contact Form, E-mail, and Phone

When you contact us, we process the information you submit (name, e-mail address, phone number if applicable, content of the inquiry).

Purpose: processing and responding to the inquiry, follow-up questions, evidentiary purposes. Retention period: until the inquiry is finally resolved, then [e.g., 12 months]; if a contractual relationship follows, the periods under Section 7 apply.

Please note: unencrypted e-mail is not a secure means of transmission. Do not send us particularly sensitive content by this channel. For confidential documents, we use the Wix member area upon request.

 

3.3 Customer Account and Internal Course/Member Area

To access online courses, downloads, and the member area (operated technically via Wix), we process: name, e-mail address, login and access credentials (password in hashed form), booked courses and products, course progress, unlocked content, login timestamps, and your contributions within course interactions (e.g., comments, uploaded work, forum posts – where applicable).

Purpose: contract performance, provision and support of the course, customer support, evidence of services rendered. Retention period: for the duration of the account; after account deletion, in accordance with www.wix.com.

Content you voluntarily share within the course area (e.g., personal texts, photos of your children, descriptions of your family situation) may constitute particularly sensitive personal data – see Section 3.6.

3.4 Orders and Payments

For paid services, we process: name, billing and, if applicable, shipping address, e-mail address, services ordered, prices, invoicing and payment data, and payment status.

Payment processing is carried out via Wix Payments / Stripe / PayPal / bank transfer. We do not receive or store full credit card details; these are captured directly by the payment service provider.

Purpose: contract processing, invoicing, accounting, compliance with legal obligations. Retention period: 10 years (Art. 958f of the Swiss Code of Obligations).

 

3.5 Newsletter and Information

We send the newsletter and information about relocating abroad only with your explicit consent (double opt-in). For this purpose, we process your e-mail address, first name [and other fields], the date and proof of sign-up, and – if enabled – open and click statistics.

You may unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link in each message or by e-mailing us. Proof of consent is retained for [e.g., 3 years] after unsubscription for evidentiary purposes.

3.6 Coaching, Consulting, and Course Support – Particularly Sensitive Personal Data

In connection with coaching and case discussions, we may process data that is particularly sensitive under Art. 5 lit. c FADP – in particular information about mental and physical health, family and intimate life, and data concerning children.

We process such data only to the extent necessary for the agreed support, and we rely on your explicit consent (Art. 6 para. 7 lit. a FADP).

Consent may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.

We do not disclose such data to third parties – in particular not to employers, sponsoring companies, schools, or organizations financing a coaching engagement. These parties receive only administrative information (e.g., confirmation of attendance, invoicing data) and no content.

Disclosure to other professionals only takes place with your written release.

We process data concerning children and minors only with the consent of the persons holding parental responsibility, and we limit it to what is necessary.

Retention period for coaching files: 10 years after last contact.

 

3.7 Companies, Institutions, and Professionals

When working with companies, schools, NGOs, and embassies, we process the contact details of contact persons, their role, correspondence, as well as contract and billing data.

 

4. Cookies and Analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies.

Necessary cookies are required for operation (login, shopping cart, security, language selection) and are set without consent.

Analytics, marketing, and third-party cookies (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Ads conversion tracking, Meta/Facebook pixel, Instagram and video embeds) are only set after you have given consent via our cookie banner. You can adjust or withdraw your choice at any time under [insert link "Cookie Settings"].

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. In that case, some functions of our website may no longer be usable.

5. Processors

We use carefully selected service providers who process personal data on our behalf (Art. 9 FADP), particularly in the areas of hosting and platform services, e-mail and communication, payment processing, newsletter distribution, accounting, and video conferencing. We have data processing agreements in place with these providers, ensuring confidentiality and data security and prohibiting any further use of the data for their own purposes.

 

6. Disclosure Abroad

Because our service providers operate internationally, personal data may be transferred abroad, in particular to the EU/EEA, the United States, and Israel.

Disclosure takes place only if the requirements of Art. 16–17 FADP are met:

  • Countries with an adequate level of data protection under Annex 1 of the Data Protection Ordinance (including EU/EEA member states, Israel, and the United States, provided the company is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework – in effect since September 15, 2024);

  • otherwise, based on the standard contractual clauses recognized by the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), together with supplementary safeguards;

  • in exceptional cases, based on your explicit consent, or because disclosure is necessary for the performance of the contract (Art. 17 FADP).

Despite these safeguards, access by authorities in certain countries cannot be entirely excluded.

 

7. Retention and Deletion

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the respective purpose or as required by law:

After this period, the data is deleted or anonymized.

 

8. Data Security

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures (Art. 8 FADP, Art. 1–3 of the Data Protection Ordinance): encrypted transmission (TLS/HTTPS), access restrictions based on the need-to-know principle, individual passwords and two-factor authentication, regular updates and backups, confidentiality obligations for all employees and processors, and lockable storage of physical documents.

In the event of a data security breach likely to result in a high risk, we will notify the FDPIC and inform the affected individuals (Art. 24 FADP).

 

9. No Automated Individual Decision-Making

We do not make decisions with legal effects or significant impact based solely on automated processing (Art. 21 FADP), and we do not carry out high-risk profiling.

 

10. Your Rights

Under Swiss data protection law, you have the following rights:

  • Access to the data processed about you (Art. 25 FADP);

  • Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 32 FADP);

  • Erasure or destruction of data;

  • Objection to processing, and the right to request that disclosure to third parties be discontinued;

  • Data release and portability in a common electronic format (Art. 28 FADP);

  • Withdrawal of consent at any time, with effect for the future.

To exercise these rights, please contact family.relocate@gmail.com. To protect your data, we may require proof of identity. We generally provide information free of charge within 30 days.

You also have the right to file a complaint with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern, Switzerland (www.edoeb.admin.ch).

 

11. Social Media

On our profiles on Facebook, Spotify, and Podbean, the respective providers process data according to their own terms. We have no influence over this processing. Interactions such as likes, comments, or messages may be evaluated by these platforms and linked to your account.

 

12. Minors

Our services are intended for adults. We process data concerning children and minors only in connection with a support engagement and with the consent of the persons holding parental responsibility. Children should not submit personal data to us without parental consent.

 

13. Notice for Individuals in the EU/EEA

Since our services are also aimed at families living in the EU/EEA, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) may additionally apply. In such cases, we base our processing on Art. 6(1) GDPR: performance of a contract (lit. b), legal obligation (lit. c), legitimate interests in secure operations and the development of our services (lit. f), or your consent (lit. a); for health data, Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR.

In addition to the rights under Section 10, you have the right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR) and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country of residence.

 

14. Changes

We may amend this Privacy Policy at any time. The version published on this website at any given time applies. In the event of material changes affecting existing customers, we will notify them by e-mail.
